A beautiful Spring afternoon was the perfect backdrop for the birth of a very special little lady. A dear friend of mine had gone into labor late the night before, and I had received texts that afternoon that she was about to have her baby.
Big brother adored his little sister (and knew it was in fact a little sister) since she was in her mama's belly. During my time at the hospital, he was very protective and always very interested in her.
I love that I caught a wee little smile there!
This is one of my very favorites from that night.
Another absolute favorite - I love how she's looking up at her daddy.
Amazing to hold three children at one time. This is one of the first photos of all three of them, and I love it.
She's a Northside Baby! Just like her siblings. She really was so chill and calm amidst all the chaos around her.
Mom is trying to answer all the texts and well-wishes from friends and family.
Ah, what a perfect sweet baby face!
Proud and loving grandparents.
Two Grandmas holding two granddaughters.
She was amazingly wakeful while I was there.
With Auntie! They share a middle name. Grandma was great about entertaining two very tired siblings - it had been a long, eventful day for them. Trying to perfect the "bow." One of the nurses brought in a hat with a bow because previous attempts to stick on a bow on were unsuccessful. This is mama with one of her best friends.
And that's ME! I got to hold the baby too - it's always a miracle to hold a newborn baby. That never gets old.
Auntie and best friends tag-team a dirty diaper change.
I love these moments with her Aunt. She loves her nieces and nephew.
The nurse came in to check baby while big brother kept a close eye. For baby number three, she's got the swaddle down.
Luckily there'll be no shortage of photos of this sweet baby girl.
I got to talk to the parents last night after their in-home newborn session, and they both agreed that they loved the photos from the hospital that showed everyone and the whole scene. I totally agree. I really wanted to capture the how many people came to visit and how loved this little girl already is. I wanted for her and her siblings to see real moments with their family and close family friends. I know when I had my babies, the hospital part is such a blur. It goes so fast, you're so sleep deprived, and in my case, I was on a ton of pain meds. I wish I had more pictures of when my babies were first born - a fresh little newborn is such an amazing miracle.
Congratulations to my dear friends on the birth of your baby girl. I adore her already. Can't wait to get started on the photos from yesterday!
