It's always a pleasure when a family invites me back to photograph the first days of their next child. I met this sweet family only about a year ago, when their son was born. When I got a call from the Dad, I initially assumed it would be for a family session with the three of them. Nope - he was in the hospital and their second child, a daughter, was just born. What joy!
I definitely understand the challenges of juggling the responsibilities of both a newborn...and a baby. Spending time in their home reminded me of those first few blurry days. My girls are now 5 and 6. It was hard at first. But now they're the best of frenemies. I love that they can do everything together. They're so different, my girls, but my hope is that their closeness in age with translate to closeness in friendship as they grow older. I hope that for these sweet babies too.
And...this month I've jumped into a blog circle again! I love blog circles because it gives me (and you!) a little glimpse into the work of talented photographers from all over the world. This month, I'll circle up to Michele Quattrin in MInnesota, then link over to my friend Hali Tomczak over in New York, and then go all the way up north to Canada to Janis Lempera's post that is certain to make you SMILE. So, stay with me until the end, and click over to Michele, who has an awesome little natural light studio in Minneapolis.
Ok, here are my favorites from this wonderful in-home newborn session. I've also included the video slideshow I created for them. Hope you enjoy~
And here's the pictures from our session...
It's funny how their little family routines have remained the same since I was here about a year ago. The kitchen is the heart of their home.
I love this next set because it depicts the "juggling" I referred to above!
Like last time I visited, they enjoy reading books together in bed.
"If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart"
I'm always so grateful to be invited into someone's home during their first few days with a new baby. It never gets old.
Thank you so much for viewing these pictures and/or watching the slideshow video.
Now, I'd love for you to follow around our blog circle. I'm linking to Michele Quattrin of mQn Photography of North Oaks, Minnesota. She has the MOST fabulous, modern-industrial studio space with tons of beautiful window light. Lotsa of brick, rustic hardwood floors and an opulent chandelier. The perfect spot for portraits in the Minneapolis area. Check it out: mQn Photography Studio Space in North East Minneapolis
