Professional Quality Photography Workshops for both Beginners and Advanced Photographers

I'm so excited to offer two photography workshops, produced by the folks over at SnapShop!  The beginner's level workshop is called "Oh Snap!" and is perfect for any skill level really, and any camera.  A lot of photography classes require a big ol' DSLR camera, but any camera is fine for this class- heck, even your cell phone camera!  The advanced class is called "SnapCamp" and is a boot camp-themed class designed to teach a DSLR camera user how to "burn" (or turn?) off their AUTO function and start using manual - that's right, manual: as in YOU set every level rather than relying on your camera sensor.   These classes can be done individually or bundled together.  Either can also be done in a series- perfect for mom's groups, etc, who are looking for an evening activity to take place over the course of several weeks.   Read on for more info on each class, pricing and how to register!

Oh Snap! Beginner-Intermediate level Photography Class

  • This workshop teaches hobbyist photogs how to take better pictures, using concepts you can easily put into practice.  Students will learn how to read lighting, composition, and perspective.
  • Since I'm a children and family photographer, many of my students will want to learn how to take better photos of their kids, and I'll teach you techniques for capturing your children at any age.
  • Students will walk away with a 100+ page presentation manual that includes cheat sheets and quick tips for common situations which will improve your photos immediately.
  • Students are invited to participate in a closed Facebook Group designed to constructively and positively provide feedback on their photos.  I personally have learned more and improved more by talking with people about what they like and don't like about my photos - usually, the feedback surprises me!  But that's a good thing!  Other people offer a valuable perspective that we can take bits and pieces of, resulting in better photos.
  • Topics:  In-Camera shooting (what do all those "modes" mean?); Composition; Perspective and lens selection; Finding good light; Putting it all together; Great photos at Any Age; Workflow; and Resources.

Snap Camp Intermediate-Advanced level Photography Class (for DSLR camera users)

  • This workshop teaches participants how to move off the Auto mode and master exposure and shooting in manual mode.  We'll focus on all aspects of exposure concepts, including metering and histograms.
  • Students will walk away with a 40+ page presentation manual that includes diagrams and examples; it is thoughtfully laid out and easy to replicate for learning assignments.
  • Students will be invited to participate in a closed Facebook Group designed to provide constructive feedback on their photos.
  • This class generally, but not always, includes real practice shooting in "the field" so that participants can gain real-time insight and hands on learning.
  • Topics:  "Must Reads" in your camera's manual; In-Camera shooting settings and modes; Exposure; Aperture; ISO; Shutter speed and MORE!

GROUPONER'S:

I occasionally offer groupon deals for my workshops!  These are a great deal, but please note that the books are NOT included in the price of the groupon.  Books will be offered for sale, if you wish, at $35 at the class or anytime thereafter.  Also, you MUST bring your groupon voucher with you to class.  There are no exceptions, I'm sorry!  If you've purchased a groupon and need to schedule a class, please send me an email with which class date you will attend.   I teach classes once or twice a month in my "off-seasons" of Summer and Winter.   Since your deal expires within 6 months, please keep this in mind when you purchase your deal.

The fine print:

Payment via check must be postmarked or received by the deadline.   Preferred payment via Paypal using your PayPal account or ANY major credit card.  I will send an invoice and payment to be made by the deadline to receive discount.  Payments are NON-refundable, but are transferable to another class date, and I will also deliver the instruction manual to you.   Class dates are determined by demand, but I plan to offer classes in the Winter and Summer (off-season for photography!)
